Starter

Here it is, the fried remains of the 4wheeler starter, looks like that was the problem.  Off to get more parts when payday comes by.  Should be about a $24 repair.

Damn thing...

Spent a beautiful day yesterday, messing with the 4wheeler.  Thought it may have been the starter solenoid but was told to check the starter first.  Looks like I may need a new one.

I did get two eggs from the chickens though.

And cooked out on the grill, I love that.

DIY-Homemade Windshield Washer Fluid

UPDATE - don't know if the temperature change had anything to do with it but, at about 25deg it is working.

FAIL - this morning it was 16deg out and it didn't work, maybe the pump broke or the nozzles were frozen...

Since our first snow (today), I found out that my windshield washer reservoir was empty (I did have enough to get home) and decided to create my own.

How hard could that be?  All I need is water, some sort of non-freezing agent, gallon jug and a cleaner.
Here's what I came up with:

First in:  3/4 cup alcohol, you can see it at the bottom of the jug

Second:  3/4 cup window cleaner

Third:  1 tsp dish liquid

Fourth:  in goes13 cups water (about)

Cap goes on and a gentle rolling on the jug to mix it all up and let it rest for a while

VIOLA !!!  There you go.  Let's see if it'll work, they're calling for more snow tomorrow afternoon.

First snow of 2013

Yup, it finally came our fist snow of 2013.  Not much just a heavy dusting, maybe a 1".

Ready for the Weather

Looks like winter is finally here.  19deg when I left for work this morning and not supposed to get over freezing all week.  Just in-case the weather does get bad, as in snow, I'll be ready.  I got this for my birthday.  I love it because it is solar powered, battery powered or hand cranked.  It has weather channels along with AM/FM, a flashlight and can be used to charge a multitude of cell phones and devices.

Just waiting for the power to go out now....

No Heat

Well, got a call from the wife, no heat when she got up.  Looks like I'll be trouble shooting when I get home.  Damn appliances !!!  Think it's the ignitor, heard it clicking on and off quite a bit lately.  Damn appliances again !!!
Found this needed replaced.

That didn't work, so I replaced this.

The one I got was rated for 300deg and the one I needed, needed to be 333deg.  Who would have thought that 33deg would make that much of a difference in a furnace.  Any it burned up and I had to order one online.

What happened here?

This past weekend we were getting ready to head to Va Beach to see our son and I went down to the basement to get some beef (a neighbor and I raised two Black Angus bulls) to take to him.  When I went to turn the light off I looked out the window and saw this...
Now how did that happen?  I checked the fencing and all looked good, so I recused her and off we went.  Later in the day my daughter called and says the other dog was in the coop and all the chickens were gone except for the Rooster.  She let the dog out and found the place in the fence that was broken.  A quick repair was made till I got home the following day.  We were missing two chicken, the rest had been saved and put back.  Over the next few days only one we found alive and well in a bush.  Still one unaccounted for.
UPDATE:  Last chicken found in neighbors bushes, spotted by their dog.  She is home safe and sound.
